Rain!

It actually rained tonight for the first time since I moved to Los Angeles four months ago. I never thought I'd be so happy to see rain. And, I saw heat lightning flash across the sky. Not that's it very hot because it's not. It's been very mild lately. Low 70's and 60's.

Speaking of lows, I'm currently experiencing a low of sorts myself -- car trouble. One of my worst case scenarios. It's car problems that can send your bank account into a tail spin. Over the weekend, the automatic gears started to delay in shifting, then my "check engine" light illuminated. So I stopped by a dealership today and they quoted me -- are you sitting down? -- $2,900! Say what?! Yeah, apparently, it needs two new sensors, not to mention some other stuff, like some new belts, etc. Two hundred dollars later (rental car included), I decided to bring my car to a mechanic a co-worker recommended for another quote. Let's hope this one is a tad bit more reasonable.

Celebrity sightings: Robert Blake again at the same Starbucks/shopping plaza on Beverly Glen; Chris O'Donnell Saturday night on his way to Entertainment Weekly's Emmy pre-party; actor-turned-screenwriter Dan Futterman ("Judging Amy," THE BIRDCAGE) at a Q&A tonight after a screening of CAPOTE (starring Philip Seymour Hoffman, who is brilliant, btw).

2 to 3 meetings a day -- for THREE weeks?! Wow, that's excellent. You must have a great agent, not to mention a great spec. Is that how you got your agent, with this script? So you guys are looking to land a writing assignment, then? What's the next step, someone offering you work?

I'm moving to Hayworth between Sunset and Selma (across the street from the DGA and right up the street from the Coffee Bean).
