The CW
It's been a long time since my last entry. Not that anyone misses it. My blog is still pretty much anonymous. Anyhoo, a lot has been going on. Where to start ....? I guess from the beginning:
Went to Magic Mountain for the first time several weeks ago and rode one of the scariest rollercoasters ever -- Tatsu. Basically, you sit down and are elevated so you're looking at the ground, before you're thrust threw the air. It literally feels like you're being hurled through the sky. The first time on it I thought I was going to die. PS: buy a "flash pass" -- it allows you to cut the line (which was 1 1/2 hours for Tatsu!) and go first.
Started a new temp job until the end of the year at the new CW network working in Affiliate Relations. The WB and UPN combined to form this new network housed in a brand new office building wedged between Warner Bros. studio and NBC. Although I like it so far, it's been a difficult transition to go back to the whole 9-5 thing, or in this case 9-6. When do I write? When do I go to the gym? I've been trying out a new schedule where I get up early (not a morning person, so its not easy) to write, then go directly to the gym after work. Otherwise, if I stop home first, I won't go. On the plus side, I very much enjoyed receiving my first pay check in a very long time.
My mom and Raul were both here for a visit. We had a great time running around going to Santa Monica, Malibu and Universal Studios, among others. We bought and planted jasmine and a horse tail to add to my small terrace garden. Then, my mom continued on to Chicagoland where it snowed one inch!
Met with my producers to go over the latest revision and they said the story and beats are all there -- they just want me to focus on developing the main character more. The goods new is they just sold their first project to Sony last week. An announcement of their good fortune landed in Variety last week. So that's what I've been struggling to do in my spare time, to make my main character stronger. Unfortunately, character development is not my strong suit. Meanwhile, Phoenix Pictuers and a management company requested the family comedy I co-wrote. So in between revisions of my script, I need to rewrite all my other scripts when/if something good happens with my producers.
Celebrity sightings: Shane W e s t (ER) at the car wash; Jason Priest ley working out next to me at the gym (saw him say hello to Tori's ex-husband, Charlie); Kathy Grif fin's ex-husband, Matt, at the grocery store; D e e Wallace (the mom in E.T.) at a creative healing seminar; Christopher Lloyd (Doc Brown in Back to the Future) at a restaurant in Malibu; Jamie Ta r ses (ex-President of ABC) at work; missed celebrity sightings at work: the D u c h e ss of Y o r k and J a d a Pinkett - Smith.
PS: why am I separating the spelling of celebrity names? Because I discovered not too long ago (read the comments below on another entry) that you can sign yourself up for google alerts to see who's writing about you ....
